China will be developing over 45, 000 MW of new coal-fired boilers per year over the next 7 years, with most of them using Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology. Once the new coal fired power plants are online China will have a total capacity of 1,100 GW.

World wide SCR technology use in coal fired power plants is more than 450 000 MW with East Asia accounting for 50% and China the largest single user of Selective catalytic reduction (SCR) technology in Asia, making China the leader user World Wide of this technology in its power plants.
