4 Chinese Companies which are Global Players

2011-12-19 source own

Companies in China have historically been seen as low-cost, low quality producers of western manufactured goods. However some of China's biggest manufactures are now Global known Brands as well, 4 examples would be Huawei, Haier, Mindray and Lenovo.

Huawei is Based in Shenzen near Hong Kong the company provides telecommunication solutions and employs 40 000 workers with an annual turnover of $18 billion. Huawei operates from 100 locations worldwide. Even through Huawei sells products for 20-30% cheaper than its competitors it doesn't see itself as just a cheap provider but a supplier of quality at a value.

Huawei works closely with its clients to provide them with customized telecom solutions to meet their market demands, Through long-term partnerships with its clients it has continued to grow alongside its Telecommunication global Partners.

Haier producers consumers appliances such as washing machines, refrigerators, air conditioning units and other household appliances. Haier employs over 50 000 employees globally and now has 8 research and development centers across the world. These research centers enable Haier  to innovate and stay ahead of its main western competitors and customise its appliances to meet each country and market requirements. Haier understands developing markets more than any other similar company for example it makes extra wider refrigerators for Pakistan to match larger family sizes and where the average women is shorter and in Japan smaller sized washing machines where family sizes tend to be smaller. It also makes mini refrigerators suitable for College students in the US market.

Mindray is a medical device manufacturer with a very strong global presence with 31 branch offices throughout China, and overseas subsidiaries in Brazil, Canada, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, Russia, Turkey, the UK and the U.S. , Spain, Egypt and Columbia. Mindray has over 1000 distributors globally and has three well-established business segments: Patient Monitoring and Life Support Products, In-Vitro Diagnostic Products and Medical Imaging Systems. Health care facilities equipped with Mindray’s products can be found in over 190 countries and regions. Mindray invests 10% of its turnover on Research and development and has a global R&D network with research centers in Shenzhen, Beijing, Nanjing, Seattle, New Jersey and Stockholm.  Mindray’ produces at least 8 new products a year which with its investment in R&D and Global network enables it to compete with companies Siemens, Roche and Johnson & Johnson.

Lenovo is China's Largest manufacture of Computer's grew to global recognition in 2004 with the  $ 1.75 Billion purchase of IBM personal computer business. Lenovo which was formerly known as Legend has been pushing its brand hard for a number of years but with this purchase in 2004 it moved it up to the next level as a Global brand and player in the PC business. Lenovo embodies the unique market possibilities in combining the best of East and West -- joining North American and China-based technology players in the creation of a unified global PC leader with growing market positions in developing and emerging markets alike. With more than $16 billion in annual revenue, Lenovo’s market strength spans not only market geographies but also the world’s consumer and business PC markets.

With the rapid development of China and the strong trade partner relationships with its Bric Partners Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa and other emerging and developing countries it seems certain to be many other Chinese companies and Brands coming out of China of years ahead.
