Yandex the world's 4th Largest Search Engine

Yandex the Russian based search Engine has knocked Bing off the 4th position to become the 4th largest search engine globally the key to Yandex success is the amount of people in Russia who search in their Russian Language. Google is number 1 in the world, China’s Baidu 2 and Yahoo is 3rd.
In November 2012 and December 2012 Bing generated 8 billion search queries and Yandex 9 billion queries.
Yandex is doing well for a few different reasons one of the key factors is that mostly its customers speak Russian and therefore search in Russian as English is only typically used for 8% of searches within Russia. Yandex also operates in Turkey, Ukraine, Belarus and Kazakhstan. Yandex total market share in Russia is 60% of all search queries.

• Google: 114.7 billion monthly search queries and 65.2% of global market share
• Baidu (China): 14.5 billion monthly search queries and 8.2% market share
• Yahoo: 8.6 billion monthly search queries and 4.9% market share
• Yandex (Russian): 4.8 billion monthly search queries and 2.8% market share
• Bing: 4.4 billion monthly search queries and 2.5% market share
